The balustrade is clear toughened glass that has been fixed into a rebate in the top of the string. On the right side the glass balustrade diminishes under the ceiling. While on the left side a timber rail (120mm x 32mm) that runs the length of the glass has been fixed to the side of the glass. Owing to the long lengths and the nature of the staircase patch fittings have been using to strengthen the glass. This staircase is closed with 65mm thick closed strings.
