This U shaped staircase is an architectural statement. The strings are closed. The staircase commences with a large bullnose step has been shaped to form a shelf and frame a water feature under the top flight. The strings are closed and at the change in pitch at the landing the string has been cranked. The weight of the glass has been carefully considered in the design and the installation of this staircase. The widths of the flights have been adjusted to allow finger room. The treads have a square nosing. The clear 12mm toughened glass is side mounted to the strings and fascia using with patch fittings.
