This U shaped staircase is an architectural statement and the feature of the room. The strings are cut to the profile of the treads and risers and at the change in pitch at the landing the string has been cranked. The staircase commences with a number of large bullnose steps that have been shaped to form a shelf and frame the shelf feature between the flights. The weight of the glass has been carefully considered in the design and the installation of this staircase. The treads have a square nosing. The clear toughened glass is mounted to the side of treads using patch fittings.
