This U shaped staircase is an architectural statement. The strings are constructed to form a BOXED section and are cut to the profile of the treads and risers. At the change in pitch at the landing the string has been cranked. WIth staircase detail like this there is a great amount of joinery work required as all sides and faces of the boxed sections are seen. The weight of the glass has been carefully considered in the design and the installation of this staircase. The clear toughened glass is face mounted to the posts using glass clamps. The continuous handrail has been installed over the glass and fixed to the posts.
