The stepsure winder system has been developed in Australia by Slattery & Acquroff and is the result of concerns expressed by many of our customers relating to the traditional triangular shaped winder steps. Many people, particularly those in the 50 plus age group, believed that traditional winders were too difficult to negotiate and were visually intimidating. A simple solution in the past has been to totally eliminate winders and replace them with a flat landing. Whilst this is still the simplest and most effective solution, it is not always an option that is readily available. With blocks of land becoming smaller and medium density developments becoming more prevalent, every square metre of building space is considered highly valuable, and allowing an extra square metre for the staircase considered extravagant.
The benefits of the Stepsure winder system are obvious. They are visually inviting, not intimidating. They are exceptionally comfortable to walk on, and incorporate a small flat landing in the corner rather than a difficult triangular shaped tread.
The Stepsure system has been fully approved by the CSIRO as to their compatibility with the Building Code of Australia.
